willi wegener (magdeburg) designed alpha and beta in 1910 for the frankfurt type foundry flinsch.¹ this revival was created between 2016 and 2017 in mar vista, highland park, and altadena, california. the letterforms and their alternates are drawn near-exact to his originals, and the ornaments are culled from different sources and time periods. as little is known about the original author, the gap in history is filled by interpretation.
