design of a custom screenprinted packing paper for bruce books, the newest venture of annie morrison's chinatown-based studio. the pattern draws on traditional slovak blueprinting, and more broadly on the global medium of indigo textile production as an expression of regional cultural identity, with the two geometric motifs patched together to resemble the pieces of a quilt.¹ slovak indigo clothes, in particular aprons, often involve folding and overlapping when worn, creating new relationships between the patterns in the same way the sheet, printed on vellum, will be folded for wrapping books.²
